4th of July Hangover Hacks from Founder Charles
The 4th of July is right around the corner, which means great times with great people — but also tons of food, lots of drinking, and what our Founder Charles likes to call ‘The Hangover from Hell’.
Him and his buddies have been known to sneak in two (or three, let’s be real) drinks more than they should every once in a while. That might be a problem for his head the next day, but it also means he’s great at curbing nasty hangovers .
He shared his best day-after hacks with us, and because we know you’re probably the type who loves having a good time, we’re sharing them with you too.
Stay Hydrated
First thing’s first: hydration is key. Alcohol is going to dehydrate your body, so you need to stay ahead of the game. In fact, you should start hydrating before the party even begins. Here’s a quick and easy way to keep those electrolytes in check:
The Hydration Hero
What You’ll Need
- Sea salt
- Water
- Electrolyte powder (optional)
How to Make It
- Add a pinch of sea salt or electrolyte powder to your water.
- Drink throughout the day to keep your electrolytes balanced.
Choose Your Drinks Wisely
When it comes to alcohol, not all drinks are created equal. Stick to clear spirits like tequila with club soda and lime. Stay away from sugary mixers and gluten-heavy beers. If you’re going for a mixed drink anyway just make sure it’s made with real fruit juice. Need some inspo? Check these out.

- Rim two glasses with a wedge of lime before dipping them into a small plate with chili lime seasoning or margarita salt.
- Combine the honey, tequila or mezcal, and lime juice.
- Add that along with ice to a high power blender and blend.
- Pour into your glass, garnish with lime wheels and enjoy!
Eat Smart
The 4th of July hangover from hell is not just because of drinking, food (no matter how good) also plays a huge hand in how you feel. Staying away from fried foods can make a big difference. Focus on eating things that are easier on your digestive system and won’t add to the strain alcohol will cause.
Go for nutrient-rich foods like eggs (great source of B vitamins), noni juice (also high in B vitamins), and fresh fruits and veggies for extra hydration and fiber.
