Nutella, But Make It Healthy

Nutella, But Make It Healthy

If you're a parent, you’ve probably been here before: kids come rushing up during snack time begging for junk food. And you want them to experience the sweet joy of waaay too much sugar, but you also know that’s probably going to bite you in the butt once that high is gone.

Plus, it’s also not the healthiest way to feed a growing body (or a fully grown one — we’re looking at you junk food adults). So, we came up with a healthier homemade Nutella recipe that not only tastes great, but is also packed with good-for-you ingredients like organic hazelnuts and a secret superfood twist – colostrum!

Also, making it together can be your new favorite way to spend some quality time with the kiddos. It’s fun, it's messy, and it’s totally worth it when you see their proud faces serving up something they made themselves.

Let’s Talk Ingredient Quality

Before you fire up your food processor, let's talk real quick about why the quality of what you throw in there matters. Because this isn’t just about taste — it’s about packing in as much powerful and nutrient dense foods as possible.

That’s why finding the right raw ingredients to work with (like fresh nuts and high quality butter) will 100% change the taste and texture of the finished product. On top of that, adding our ‘secret ingredient’ colostrum will give this Nutella a nutritional punch that store bought options can only dream of.

So here’s the scoop: you can choose high quality ingredients locally or you can get them directly from us here at Crucial FOUR! We left you some of our favorite products for this recipe linked in the ingredients list below — because we might be biased, but dang if those don’t make our Nutella work (and taste) so much better.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups organic hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup high-quality cacao powder (mBreakfast)
  • 1/2 cup melted grass-fed butter
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar (mNectar)
  • 1/4 cup colostrum powder (mColostrum)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (mSalt)
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup for added sweetness
Instructions:
  1. Roast your hazelnuts for 12-15 mins in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C). Make sure to spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet, and wait until they're slightly browned and the skins are blistered.

  2. Once done, wrap the hazelnuts in a kitchen towel and rub them to remove as much loose skin as possible.

  3. Once they’re cool enough to handle, place them in a food processor and blend until they form a smooth, butter-like consistency. This can take several minutes!

  4. Add your cacao powder (mBreakfast) and coconut sugar (mNectar) to the food processor and blend again until the mixture is well combined and smooth.

  5. While your processor is running slowly add the melted grass-fed butter and colostrum (mColostrum), and keep blending until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Too thick? Add a little more butter or a splash of water.

  6. Finish your healthy Nutella off with a little sea salt (mSalt) and blend for a few more seconds. Make sure to taste test (everyone’s favorite part)! If you like it sweeter add honey or maple syrup to taste.

  7. Transfer your finished product to a clean jar or container and keep it in your fridge for up to two weeks.
